Hokies travel to Boston, Clemson, and Vanderbilt for three meet weekend

BLACKSBURG –  The Virginia Tech track and field team will split ways this weekend as the individual event squads travel to either Chestnut Hill, Ma. for the David Hemery Valentine Invitational, the Tiger Paw Invite in Clemson, S.C., or the Music City Challenge in Nashville, Tenn.
 
David Hemery Invitational (Distance)  - Live Results
 
Juniors Lindsey Butler and Hannah Ballowe set to compete in the women's mile at Boston on Friday, Feb. 10. Butler is currently ranked first in the ACC 800m event with a time of 2:03.13, Ballowe is ranked seventh (2:05.57).
 
Sophomore Star Price will attempt to improve upon her 800m time this weekend currently ranked 23rd in the NCAA with a time of 2:05.09. Price will also compete in the 1000m with teammate Nicole Re.
 
Senior Antonio Lopez Segura is looking to qualify for his third straight NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championship appearance this season competing in the men's 3000m on Saturday. Lopez Segura made his season debut in the event last weekend at Camel City Invitational running a time of 7:54.11, seventh in the ACC.
 
Lopez Segura will be joined by teammates Ryan Chevalier, Viktor Idhammar, Arlo Ludewick, Ethan Mills, Ben Nagel, Bryce Reeburgh, and Declan Rymer in the men's mile scheduled for 4:35 p.m. on Saturday.
 
Tiger Paw Invite (Sprints / Jumps) – Live Results
 
Sophomore Layla Anderson has clocked four personal-best times this season in the 60m, 200m, 300m, and 60m hurdles events.  Anderson finds herself positioned third in the ACC in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.26, and sixth in the 200m (23.85). Cierra Pyles will compete with Anderson in the 60m hurdles as well as compete in the long jump and triple jump events.
 
Jumper Victoria Gorlova is scheduled to make her season debut at the Tiger Paw Invite on Friday competing in the women's long jump and triple jump. Gorlova is the 2022 ACC indoor track and field triple jump champion. She won the event by jumping 44'2.5" (13.47m).
 
Judson Lincoln IV and Kennedy Harrison will be competing in the men's 400m and 200m events in Clemson on Friday and Saturday. Lincoln IV and Harrison clocked the top two 400m conference times at the Hokie Invitational on Jan. 20. Lincoln leads the event with a time of 46.50, Harrison is second (46.74).
 
Cole Beck and Ali Diaby will join their Hokie teammates in the men's 200m. Beck currently sits fifth in the ACC with a time of 21.18.
 
Senior Chauncey Chambers returns to the runway on Saturday competing in the triple jump. Chambers ranks fourth in the conference after attaining a distance of 16.14m 52'11.5" at the Hokie Invitational last month. Sophomore Aidan Clark sits third in the ACC with a season-best height of 7'0.5" (2.15m) in the high jump event.
 
Music City Challenge (Throws) -  Live Results 
 
In the women's weight throw, Rebecca Mammel and Sara Killinen are ranked within the NCAA top 10 having both cleared 72' (21.95m). Mammel leads the conference with a season-best throw of 75'4" (22.96m) set at the season opener. Killinen finished second at the meet with a season-best throw of 72'9" (22.17m), currently ranked 10th in the NCAA.
 
Freshman Katrin Brzyszkowska is ranked second in the conference after putting a personal-best distance of 55' 2.75" (16.83m) in the women's shot put at the Lenny Lyles Invitational on Jan. 27. Essence Henderson finished second in the event with a season-best distance of 54'0" (16.46m), currently ranked fourth in the conference. Sophomore Katie Seyfang is fifth with a mark of 53'5" (16.28m).
 
In the men's shot put, senior Tyson Jones opened the season with a season-best put of 60'6" (18.44m) at the Virginia Tech Invitational on Jan. 27. Jones' mark ranks fourth in the ACC.

The Virginia Tech men's team was recently ranked first in the conference by the U.S. Track and Field & Coaches Association, the women's team is nationally ranked 11th.
