Hokies set for three-meet weekend

BLACKSBURG – The Virginia Tech men's and women's track and field teams continues their outdoor campaigns preparing for a three-meet weekend. Hokies will descend upon Philadelphia, Penn., Jacksonville, Fla. and Charlottesville, Va. from April 27 – 30.
 
The throws squad will compete at the Penn Relays while sprints, jumps, hurdles, and pole vault compete at the East Coast Relays in Florida. Tech's distance crew will represent the Hokies back in Virginia running at the Virginia High Performance meet on Sunday.
 
Penn Relays – Throws
Sara Killinen, Rebecca Mammel, and Barbora Stejfova open the Hokies weekend on Thursday taking on the women's hammer throw at 2:00 p.m. Killinen is currently ranked fifth in the NCAA with a mark of 222'10" (67.93m) set at the Mt. SAC Relays two weeks ago.
 
Competition for the Hokies will resume on Friday with men's discus throw starting at noon, followed by the women's at 3:30 p.m. Katie Seyfang and Katrin Brzyszkowska are scheduled to compete in the shot put on Saturday at 12:30 p.m., followed by Tyson Jones in the men's at 2:30 p.m.
 
East Coast Relays – Jumps, Sprints, Hurdles, Pole Vault
Freshman Kenna Stimmel leads the pole vault squad into Jacksonville ranked third in the nation after clearing a height of 14'7.25" (4.45m) at the Weems Baskin Relays on March 24. Julia Fixsen sits 12th at a height of 14'1.25" (4.30m), followed by Hayley Horvath and Journey Gurley tied for 32nd with a clearance of 13'7.25" (4.15m).
 
Jacob Rice and Jake Spotswood are tied for second in the ACC men's pole vault clearing a season-best height of 16'10.75" (5.15m) at the Mt. SAC Relays.
 
In the triple jump, Chauncey Chambers ranks seventh in the NCAA jumping a personal-best distance of 53' 9.75" (16.40m) at the Florida Relays one month ago. Cierra Pyles leads the women's efforts ranked 12th with a personal-best distance of 43'7.75" (13.30m), second best mark in the ACC this season.
 
Junior Aidan Clark is placed 16th in the NCAA men's high jump with a height of 7'1" (2.16m).  
 
Scheduled to run in the men's 200m will be Judson Lincoln IV, Kennedy Harrison, and Cole Beck. Lincoln IV dominates the ACC in the 400m as the only athlete in the conference to clock sub-46 this season. Harrison is placed 6th in the 200m with a time of 20.74, followed by Beck in 8th (20.77), and Lincoln IV in 14th (21.02).
 
Virginia High Performance  – Distance
Distance runner Lindsey Butler is set to compete in the 400m and 1500m events in Charlottesville on Sunday. In the NCAA, Butler ranks 32nd in the 1500m and 14th in the 800m, she last competed in the 400m in 2021 clocking a personal-best time of 54.90.
 
Sophomore Star Price looks to improve upon her time in the 800m currently sitting 7th in the ACC followed by Hannah Ballowe in 10th.
 
Placed 15th in the nation in the 10,000m Antonio Lopez Segura looks to tackle the mid-distance events this weekend. Lopez Segura is prepared to take on the 800m and mile.
 
In the steeplechase, Declan Rymer and Alec Fleming are within the ACC top 10 list with Rymer ranked fifth with a personal-best time of 8:46.58. Fleming is positioned eighth in the conference clocking in a time of 8:50.65. Viktor Idhammar leads the Hokies in the 1500m placed fifth in the ACC with a time of 3:39.66, 27th in the nation.
