BLACKSBURG, Va. – The Virginia Tech track and field team concluded another strong weekend of competition, highlighted by record-breaking performances from George Couttie, Katie Bohlke and Katrin Brzyszkowska, followed by an array of Hokies breaking into the program’s all-time top 10 list across multiple meets.
George Couttie set a new program record in the mile with a time of 3:52.02 at the ASICS Sound Invite in Winston-Salem, N.C., marking his third program record of the season. His performance ranks No. 7 on the NCAA all-time list, No. 2 in Division I this year and stands as the top collegiate time in the event this season.
Competing in the same mile race as Couttie, Cole Hocker set a new American record in the event, running 3:45.94 — the second-fastest time ever recorded. Earlier this month, Hocker claimed the Millrose 2-mile title in 8:07.01 and previously ran 4:52.92 to break the American record in the 2,000 meters while setting a facility record at Rector Field House in January.
Katie Bohlke competed in the 3,000 meters at the ASICS Sound Invitational, where she won the event in 8:55.32. With the sub-nine-minute performance, she became the first athlete in program history to break the nine-minute barrier and now holds the school record. Teammate Jule Lindner also competed in the 3,000 meters, clocking 9:13.03 to move into No. 6 on Virginia Tech’s all-time list.
At the Darius Dixon Memorial Invitational in Lynchburg, Va., Katrin Brzyszkowska won the shot put with a mark of 16.45 meters, securing her fifth consecutive event victory. Her throw broke the meet record of 15.91 meters previously set by Amanda Schaare of Wake Forest in 2024.
Farah Nasir earned her first individual event win of the season with a second-place finish in the 400 meters at the Darius Dixon Invite, clocking a season-best 55.82.
Emma Lindner also secured her first event win of the season, posting a career-best 4:41.96 in the mile at the Sound Invite.
Kenza Elakari clocked 2:08.21 in the 800 meters to finish third at the ASICS Sound Running Invitational.
In Albuquerque, N.M., at the Don Kirby Elite Invitational, Lilly Ver Beek matched her personal best in the long jump with a mark of 5.96 meters and remains No. 6 on the program’s all-time list.
Ben Reynolds and Roan Kelly finished 1–2 in the mile at the ASICS Sound Invite, both dipping under four minutes and breaking into Virginia Tech’s all-time top 10 list. Reynolds’ 3:58.01 ranks No. 5, while Kelly’s 3:58.10 sits at No. 6.
Ryan Chevalier secured second in the 3,000 meters with a time of 7:58.82 at the Sound Invite, moving into the No. 8 spot on the program’s all-time top 10 list.
Nicholas Kipchirchir moved up to No. 3 all-time after winning the 5,000 meters at the Sound Invite with a season-best 13:45.08. He was followed by teammate Linus Chepkochei, who clocked a personal-best 14:01.33 to move into No. 6 on the all-time list.
Dylan DeCambre added another top-10 mark after posting a personal-best 1:47.36 to win the 800 meters at the Sound Invite. He now ranks No. 3 all-time in the 1,000 meters following last weekend’s performance.
At the Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark., Nabil Tezkratt broke into the program’s all-time top 10 for the third time in his first season as a Hokie. He clocked 46.78 in the 400 meters to move into No. 4 in program history. Elijah Mosley followed with a 47.57 in his first 400-meter race as a Hokie, placing him No. 10 all-time.
