Four Hokies advance to NCAA quarterfinals on day one of preliminary rounds

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Virginia Tech track & field opened day one action of the 2025 NCAA East Region Preliminary Round in Jacksonville, Fla. with four quarterfinals qualification marks.

Viktor Idhammar was the first Hokie to earn a "Q", landing one with his 3:44.28 and fourth-place finish in his heat of the 1500m.  He will advance to the 1500m finals on Friday, May 30 at 5:15 p.m.

Christian Jackson and Nick Plant led in the 800m, earning automatic qualifiers in their respective heats with top-three finishes.

Kahleje "KJ" Tillmon captured an autoqualifier in the 200m with his 21.03, finishing third in his heat.

Lukas Baroke finished 13th in the east region hammer throw with his 64.67m (212'2"), finishing as the first man out of NCAA Championship qualification, just as a sophomore.
