Bobb shatters 400m program and Bermuda National record in day two of the ACC Outdoor Championships

Two Hokies earned podium seats while six earned finals qualifications for Saturday.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Declan Rymer and Conner McClure captured podium spots, in their respective events, for Virginia Tech on Friday afternoon.  Rymer brought home the first bronze medal on the men's side and McClure secured the first silver for the men in the meet.

Caitlyn Bobb stunned in the 400m prelim, securing an astounding 51.57 for the Virginia Tech program record, the Bermuda National record and a first-place seed and autoqualification for the final.  

On the men's side of the 400m, Sam Herenton boasted a 46.30 to advance to the final.

Nate Paris made his 2025 decathlon debut, accumulating 7,335 points for a sixth place finish and became the No. 2 all-time top performer in Virginia Tech history, just 198 points from the program record.  He not only reached a personal-best for the total points, but also reached personal-bests in the long jump, shot put, 400m and javelin.

All four Virginia Tech men in the 800m prelim finished in the top eight, with three of the four securing finals qualifications.  Nick Plant and Christian Jackson earned automatic qualifications while Dylan DeCambre posted a qualifying time.

Lindsey Butler secured her finals qualification with a 2:03.00 in the 800m, landing sixth overall in the prelims with her autoqualification.  

In the women's shot put, Katie Seyfang successfully threw over 15.50m in four of her six attempts, concluding the constest with a sixth place finish and a 15.88m distance.
