Hokies set to compete at US Olympic Trials

BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech men's and women's track and field return to Eugene, Ore. To compete at the 2024 U.S. Olympic Team Trials, June 21 – 30 at Hayward Field.
 
Six current athletes, and seven Tech alumni, will be making an appearance at the trials competing in sprints, distance, jumps, pole vault, and throws events.
 
Judson Lincoln IV – 400m
Friday, June 21 - 5:20pm ET (R1), Sunday, June 23 - 9:35pm ET (Semi), Monday, June 24 - 9:59pm (Final)
Lincoln finished fifth in the 400m at the 2024 NCAA Outdoor Championships with a time of 45.31. He ran a sub-45 at the East Regional breaking the all-time ACC Record (44.55).
 
At the 2024 ACC Outdoor Championships, Lincoln was named the ACC Men's Track MVP after winning the 200m (20.51), 400m (44.60 *meet record), and 4x400m relay (3:03.35).
 
Lincoln placed third in the 400m at the 2024 NCAA Indoor Championships clocking in at 45.57. He won the ACC Championships finishing first in both the prelims (45.88) and finals (45.70).
 
He is the 2023 USATF U20 400m outdoor champion with a time of 45.47.
 
Christian Jackson – 800m

Jackson recorded a personal-best 800m time of 1:46.70 competing at the Lynchburg Summer Series on June 4, 2024.
 
He competed in the distance medley relay at the 2024 NCAA Indoor Championships finishing 10th with a time of 9:32.20. Jackson placed third in the 800m at the ACC Indoor Championships with a time of 1:47.76.
 
 
Nick Plant – 800m
Thursday, June 27 - 7:30pm ET (R1), Friday, June 28 - 9:44pm ET (Semi), Sunday, June 30 - 7:51pm (Final)
Plant placed eighth at the 2024 NCAA Outdoor Championships in the 800m with a time of 1:47.00. He ran 1:46.39 in the 800m quarterfinals at the East Prelims.
 
He finished fourth in the 800m at the ACC Outdoor Championships recording a time of 1:47.43. His personal-best 800m time of 1:46.35 was set at the Hill City Twilight on May 3 in Lynchburg, Va.
 
Plant recently broke the 1500m school record (3:37.88) competing at the Portland Track Festival High Performance on June 9, 2024.
 
Conner McClure - Pole Vault
Friday, June 21 - 8:50pm ET (Q), Sunday, June 23 - 8:45pm ET (Final)
McClure broke the all-time ACC record in pole vault clearing 18' 10.25" (5.75m) at the Texas Relays in March.
 
He tied for eighth at the 2024 NCAA Outdoor Championships clearing the bar at 17' 7.25" (5.37m), he was third at the Indoor Championships (18' 2.5" (5.55m)).
 
McClure claimed gold at the 2024 ACC Indoor Championships jumping over the bar at 18' 1.75" (5.53m).
 
Aidan Clark - High Jump
Thursday, June 27 - 8:00pm ET (Q), Sunday, June 30 – 6:30pm ET (Final)
Clark won the high jump at the 2024 ACC Outdoor Championships clearing a personal-best height of 7' 2.5" (2.20m).
 
He was fourth at the ACC Indoor Championships jumping over the bar at a height of 7' 1.75" (2.18m).
 
Chauncey Chambers '23 - Triple Jump  – assistant jumps coach
Friday, June 28 - 9:20pm ET (Q), Sunday, June 30 - 6:55pm ET (Final)
Chambers qualified for the trials with a mark of 51' 9.75" (15.79m) set at the Virginia Challenge in Charlottesville, Va. in April.
 
He is a two-time All-American finishing 15th in triple jump at the 2022 and 2023 NCAA Indoor Championships.
 
Chambers jumped a personal-best distance of 53' 5.5" (16.29m) at the 2022 ACC Indoor Championships, finishing second. Not wind legal, he placed second at the 2023 Florida Relays with a mark of 53' 9.75" (16.40m).
 
Vincent Ciattei '18– 1500m
Friday, June 21 - 8:22pm ET (R1), Saturday, June 22 - 9:54pm ET (Semi), Monday, June 24 - 8:47pm (Final)
 Ciattei clocked a season-best 1500m time of 3:34.62 at the USATF New York City Grand Prix on June 9th.
 
He placed seventh at the 2024 USATF Los Angeles Grand Prix with a time of 3:35.55 in the 1500m. Ciattei was fifth at the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix clocking in at 3:37.33.
 
At the 2024 USA Indoor Championships, he finished fifth in the 1500m with a time of 3:39.03.
 
Ciattei is a five-time First Team All-American finishing second in the 1500m at the 2018 NCAA Outdoor Championships (3:45.02). He was second in the mile (3:58.36) and first in the distance medley relay (9:30.76) at the 2018 indoor championships.
 
Jordan Roach '16 – Discus
Thursday, June 27 - 9:45pm ET (Q), Saturday, June 29 - 6:30pm ET (Final)
 
Roach qualified for the trials throwing 64.60m (211' 3") at the USATF New York City Grand Prix in Jan. finishing sixth. He placed second at the Iron Wood Classic in May with a mark of 63.94m.
Roach competed at the 2021 U.S. Olympic Trials finishing eighth in discus with a throw of 59.25m.
 
While competing at Virginia Tech, Roach twice qualified for the outdoor regional. He finished ninth in discus at the 2016 ACC Championships throwing 52.36m (171' 9").
 
Roach currently works at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas as an assistant coach, throws.
 
Isaiah Rogers '20  – Hammer

Rogers qualified for the Olympic Trials throwing 73.73m (241' 10") at the Oklahoma Throws Series World Invitational in April.
 
He placed first at the NACAC New Life Invitational in the Bahamas on June 16th throwing 71.50m.
 
In 2023, Rogers placed 11th in hammer at the NCAA Outdoor Championships with a mark of 69.77m (228' 11"). He won the ASUN Outdoor Championships, competing for Kennesaw State, with a season-best mark of 71.90m (235' 11).
 
Lindsey Butler - 1500m

Butler placed seventh in the 1500m at the 2024 NCAA Outdoor Championships with a time of 4:08.31.  
 
She finished third in the 800m at the ACC Outdoor Championships stopping the clock at 2:04.28. Butler recorded a personal-best 1500m time of 4:07.96 at the Wake Forest Invitational on April 19.
 
She finished seventh at the 2024 NCAA Indoor Championships with a season-best time of 2:02.39 in the 800m. She is the 2024 ACC 800m Indoor Champion at 2:03.86.
 
Butler is the 2022 NCAA Indoor Champion in the 800m with a time of 2:01.37.
 
Queen Harrison-Claye '10 - 100m H (Fifth Olympic Trials Appearance)

Harrison-Claye recently made a comeback to track and field after nearly two and a half years since her last competition. She opened her 2024 season clocking 13.16 in the 100m hurdles in February in Melbourne, VIC, Australia.
 
Harrison is a three-time NCAA women's track and field champion, a six-time All-American, 2010 Bowerman Award winner and a 2008 Olympian competing in the 400m hurdles. Harrison placed 13th in the semifinals with a time of 55.88.
 
She won the 100m H at the 2015 Pan American Games with a time of 12.72. In 2016, she placed fourth in the 100m H at the U.S. Olympic Trials clocking in at 12.57.
 
At the 2021 trials, Harrison finished 13th in the semifinals of the 100m H stopping the clock with a season-best time of 12.78.
 
Rachel Baxter '23 – pole vault - assistant pole vault coach

Baxter opened her 2024 season clearing a season-best 4.51m (14' 9.5") at the Virginia Tech Invitational on Jan. 12. She finished eighth at the USA Indoor Championships jumping the bar at 4.40m. She was first at the USATF Throws Festival in May clearing the bar at 4.50m.
 
In 2022, Baxter won the NCAA Outdoor Championships by setting a new ACC record clearance of 4.62m (15' 1.75"). She was named the ACC Women's Field Athlete of the Year and the USTFCCCA Women's Southeast Field Athlete of the Year.
 
She is the first vaulter, man or woman, in ACC history to win four straight indoor titles at the ACC Indoor Championships.
 
Baxter placed 14th at the 2021 US Olympic Team Trials sailing over the bar at 4.40m (14' 5.25").
 
Essence Henderson '23 – Discus assistant throws coach

Henderson met the automatic qualifying standards throwing 59.86m (196' 4") at the Oklahoma Throws Series World Invitational in April.
 
She finished ninth at the 2023 NCAA Outdoor Championships with a mark of 56.28m (184' 8") in discus. Henderson placed seventh at the 2021 NCAA Outdoor Championships throwing 57.72m (189'4").
 
Bridget Williams – pole vault

Williams has trained at Virginia Tech since 2020. She attended the University of Virginia where she competed in pole vault from 2015-2019.
 
Since training under assistant coach Bob Phillips, Williams has continued to reach new heights in pole vault. She cleared a personal-best height of 4.83m (15' 10") at the All Star Perche in Clermont-Ferrand, France on Feb. 22nd. Two days later, Williams jumped the bar at 4.80m at the Perche Elite Tour Rouen, France.
 
Earlier this month, she placed first at the DC Pole Vault Championships clearing the bar at a height of 4.73m.
