Hokies secure six victories at Virginia High Performance

Final Results

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.-  The Virginia Tech men's and women's distance crews dominated the track at Virginia's Lannigan Field on Sunday, Apr. 30 claiming six first place finishes. 

Sophomore Barbora Malíková led the Hokies efforts winning both the 200m and 400m dashes.  Malíková started her day running a personal-best time in the women's 400m crossing the line at 52.59, fourth fastest time in the ACC this season.  In the 200m, she clocked a personal-best time of 24.07. 

Tech took first, second, and third in the women's 1500-meters in Charlottesville as Grace Boone, Lindsey Butler, and Chase Kappeler crossed the finish line in section two. Boone set a personal-best time of 4:20.42, followed by Butler (4:26.97) and Kappeler (4:32.29). Boone's time ranks 20th in the ACC. 

Freshman Star Price continued her winning-streak in the 800m winning her third straight meet this season. Price stopped the clock at 2:03.97 recording the 23rd fastest time in the nation, third in the ACC. Junior Hannah Ballowe crossed the line fifth with a time of 2:14.35. 

Sophomore Viktor Idhammar ranks 13th in the ACC 800-meters clocking a personal-best time of 1:48.63, finishing first in a field of 18 athletes. Freshman Elham Huq won his first collegiate meet in the 3000m steeplechase clocking in a time of 9:25.62.

Determined to break the four minute mile barrier, Ben Nagel finished third with a time of 3:59.96. Declan Rymer followed closely behind in fourth with a time of 4:00.70. 

Up Next 
Virginia Tech ends the regular season on Wednesday, May 3 in Lynchburg, Va. competing at the Liberty Twilight Meet. The Hokies outdoor championship season kickoffs on May 11 -13  in Raleigh, N.C. competing at the ACC Championships. Hokies will then wait two weeks to compete at the East Regionals on May 24 - 27 in Jacksonville, Fla.  Tech currently has 38 athletes and 2 relays teams ranked within the top 48 in the East Region.
