Joined Virginia Tech men’s basketball staff: 2024 and enters his first year with the program.
With the Hokies: Atzenhoffer’s responsibilities include creating scouting reports with individual and opponent film breakdown, assisting in on-campus recruiting, overseeing the student manager program, working with the academic office to ensure that players are on track academically, while implementing and creating the daily basketball calendar, and assisting in team budgeting. Additionally, he contributes to team meetings.
Prior to Virginia Tech: Atzenhoffer comes from elite college basketball programs, most recently serving the Western Michigan Broncos as the Men’s Basketball Video Coordinator for two seasons (2022-24). With the Broncos, Atzenhoffer worked closely with the coaches, overseeing all video breakdown, scouting reports and executing player development plans through film and on-court instruction.
Prior to his time at Western Michigan, Atzenhoffer spent one season (2021-2022) with the Nevada men’s basketball program as a graduate assistant under head coach Steve Alford. Before his time in Reno, Nev., Atzenhoffer was a student manager for the Michigan State men’s basketball and women’s basketball programs, working and learning under Hall of Fame coach Tom Izzo for three seasons and women's basketball head coach Suzy Merchant for one. Merchant is the winningest coach in the program’s history with 327 wins. With the Spartans, Atzenhoffer worked closely with video breakdown and assisted the coaching staff with numerous other duties as assigned. During his time in East Lansing, the Spartans won a pair of Big Ten regular season championships, won the 2019 Big Ten Tournament and reached the 2019 Final Four.

Personal: Atzenhoffer attended Avon High School in Ohio and played on the Eagles men’s basketball team.
