Joined Virginia Tech men’s basketball staff: 2022 and enters his second season with the program as a graduate assistant.
With the Hokies: McDonald is responsible for assisting with player development, film breakdown and scouting reports.
Prior to Virginia Tech: McDonald came to Tech from Loy Norrix High School where he coached basketball and was a staff counselor from 2017-22.
McDonald was a four-year letterwinner for Ohio State (2011-15). He and his teammates advanced to the NCAA tournament each of his four seasons in Columbus.
Following his career with the Buckeyes, McDonald played overseas in Greece, Croatia and Slovenia.
Education: Ohio State, 2015 (B.A. Economics).
Personal: A native of Battle Creek, Michigan, McDonald is currently working on his master’s in agricultural and life sciences with a concentration in leadership studies.
