Matt Transue enters his fourth year on the Virginia Tech football staff, serving as the assistant director of football operations and director of pro scouting. Transue is responsible for assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Hokies’ operation and recruiting departments. He also supports the planning and execution of team travel and onboarding of new enrollees.
He assists with recruiting visits (unofficial & official), database management, graphic design for the program’s social media channels and other general duties as assigned. He also serves as the team’s pro liaison to the NFL, coordinating all NFL personnel visits and Virginia Tech’s annual Pro Day.
Transue worked with Fuente and many members of his staff as a recruiting volunteer at the University of Memphis during the 2015 season. While in Memphis, he also worked as an account executive in the ticket office of the Memphis Redbirds, the Triple-A affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals.
The Brentwood, California native, is a graduate of the University of Tennessee, with an undergraduate degree and a master’s degree in sport management. While at Tennessee, he served as a student assistant, and later a graduate assistant, in the football recruiting and operations departments from 2010-15.
He and his wife Amy were married in July 2019.
