LOUISVILLE, Ky. — ACC Championship Saturday saw historic performances from Virginia Tech’s Nick Plant, Katie Bohlke, and the men’s 4x400m relay squad as the Hokies closed out the ACC Championships with the men’s team earning a third-place finish overall.
The Hokies’ men’s squad capped off the weekend with a third-place finish in the team standings, powered by multiple podium finishes, individual ACC titles, and strong performances across distance, sprint, and field events.
Nick Plant took home the gold after a tactical 3:39.60 finish in the 1500m. After trailing UVA's Gary Martin with 400 meters to go, Plant turned on the afterburners with a 52.17 final lap, kicking his way to victory.
The men’s 4x400 team is back on top of the ACC after an electric anchor leg by Judson Lincoln IV. Elijah Mosely, Nabil Tezkratt, and Nick Plant set Lincoln up for success to bring the Hokies home with a first-place finish in the event.
The men’s 800m squad blitzed the track with Christian Jackson headlining the Hokies by finishing second in 1:46.47. Roan Kelly had a personal-best performance of 1:47.76, earning fifth place, Second Team All-ACC honors, and the eighth-best time in program history.
Yekini Bowen impressed in his first season at Tech with several entries into the school record book and now, a second-place ACC finish in discus. On his fourth attempt, Bowen erupted for a 62.06m (203’ 7”) mark, earning him All-ACC First Team honors and the second-best mark in program history.
In his only event of the championships, George Couttie earned Second-Team All-ACC honors in the 5000 meters after finishing fifth. Couttie logged a personal-best 13:33.55 and still holds the third spot in program history in the event.
In the men’s 400-meter finals, Nabil Tezkratt earned All-ACC Second Team honors after finishing fifth with a 46.37.
On the women's side, Redshirt freshman phenom Katie Bohlket ook the 5000 meters by storm with a 15:33.82. Bohlke used her kick in the final two laps to take a comfortable lead and cruise to her first ACC title.
