LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Katrin Brzyszkowska captured her second consecutive ACC shot put title with a personal-best mark to headline Virginia Tech’s performances on day two of the ACC Outdoor Championships, as multiple Hokies earned podium finishes, All-ACC honors and all-time top-10 program marks.
Brzyszkowska won the women’s shot put with a personal-best throw of 17.76 meters (58 feet, 3.25 inches), completing the 2026 indoor and outdoor ACC shot put sweep. The mark further strengthened her standing atop the Virginia Tech outdoor record book.
Her standout season included ACC Women’s Field Athlete of the Week honors following a victory at the Jim Green Invitational in Lexington, Kentucky, on May 2, where she recorded a throw of 17.40 meters (57 feet, 1 inch). That mark ranked second in the ACC, seventh in the NCAA East Region and 12th nationally in Division I competition at the time.
During the indoor season, Brzyszkowska claimed her first ACC title with a throw of 17.00 meters (55 feet, 9.25 inches) at the ACC Indoor Championships, the second-best indoor shot put mark in Virginia Tech history. She won nearly every competition she entered during the 2026 campaign, cementing her place among the program’s all-time greats.
Freshman Jule Lindner earned All-ACC honors in the women’s 3,000-meter steeplechase after placing third in 9:49.08. Earlier this outdoor season, Lindner rewrote the Virginia Tech record books in her collegiate steeplechase debut at the Virginia Challenge in Charlottesville, Va., running 9:46.08 for a first-place finish.
Lilly Ver Beek moved to No. 3 in Virginia Tech history in the women’s long jump with a career-best mark of 6.22 meters (20 feet, 5 inches), the top freshman finish among 29 competitors.
Freshman Zoey McFadyen continued her strong debut season by qualifying for Saturday’s 400-meter final with a personal-best time of 54.17 seconds. The performance moved her to No. 9 all-time at Virginia Tech in the event, and she is the only freshman in Saturday’s final.
On the men’s side, freshman Stuart Pirtle placed fourth in the decathlon with 7,397 points, the second-highest score in program history.
In the men’s 3,000-meter steeplechase, Garrett Winter earned All-ACC honors with a fourth-place finish in 8:46.43, moving to seventh all-time in program history.
Nathaniel Curtiss earned second-team All-American honors in the high jump with a season-best clearance of 2.09 meters (6 feet, 10.25 inches), finishing sixth overall.
Nabil Tezkratt punched his second ticket to an event final after running a season-best 45.79 in the 400 meters, moving to No. 3 all-time at Virginia Tech. He also clocked a personal-best 20.81 in the 200-meter preliminaries to qualify for Saturday’s final with the 10th-fastest time in program history.
Roan Kelly, Dylan DeCambre and Christian Jackson also advanced to Saturday’s finals in the men’s 800 meters, posting times of 1:47.99, 1:48.00 and 1:48.09, respectively. Kelly’s performance marked a personal best.
