Virginia Tech posts strong performances at Tom Jones Memorial Invitational and Virginia Challenge to close out weekend competition

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The men’s 4x400-meter relay squad moved into fifth place on Virginia Tech’s outdoor track and field all-time top 10 list with a strong performance at the Tom Jones Memorial Invitational, while Christian Jackson won the 800 meters at the Virginia Challenge in Charlottesville, Virginia, to close out the weekend. 

The 4x400 relay team of Judson Lincoln IV, Elijah Mosley, Clavin Meyer and Nabil Tezkratt finished in 3 minutes, 4.48 seconds — No. 5 all-time at Virginia Tech — and placed second at the Tom Jones Memorial Invitational. The race also marked Lincoln’s outdoor season debut after he recovered from an injury during the indoor season. It was the fifth Virginia Tech squad he has helped lead into the program’s all-time top 10. 

At the Virginia Challenge, Jackson returned to the track Saturday and opened his outdoor season with a victory in the 800 meters, winning in 1:46.58. He was followed by Sam Idiens, who placed third in 1:48.89. 

Up next 
The Hokies will travel to Kentucky for the Jim Freeman/Clark Wood Invitational in Louisville and the Jim Green Invitational in Lexington from April 23-25.
