BLACKSBURG, Va. — The Virginia Tech track and field team opened competition at the Doc Hale Invitational on Friday at the Rector Field House, posting five performances that landed on the program’s all-time top 10 list along with multiple podium finishes and personal records.
Lilly Ver Beek impressed in her pentathlon debut, scoring 3,608 points to rank fifth all-time in program history. She highlighted her day by winning the long jump with a personal-best mark of 5.96m (19” 6.75”).
Katie Bohlke made her season debut in the mile and delivered a winning performance, clocking 4:35.81 to move into fourth all-time in Virginia Tech history. Hokies swept the podium as Jule Lindner finished second in 4:41.54 and Lila Waters placed third with a personal-best 4:42.01.
Janiya Johnson tied for eighth all-time in program history after running a personal-best 7.47 in the 60m prelims. She followed with a second-place finish in the finals (7.48) to earn her first podium of the season.
On the men’s side, Nate Paris recorded a personal-best 8.09 in the 60m hurdles prelims, good for 10th all-time on the program list.
Calvin Meyer claimed his second straight 60m title, running a personal-best 6.77 to tie for 10th all-time in Virginia Tech history.
Ryan Chevalier earned his second podium finish of the season in the mile, placing third with a season-best time of 4:03.65.
Nicholas Kipchirchir made his 3k debut, finishing in 8:03.53 as the top collegiate competitor in the event.
Nabil Tezkratt placed third in the 400m with a time of 47.96, while Nathaniel Curtiss closed the night with his first collegiate podium, finishing third in the long jump with a mark of 7.08m (23’ 2.75”).
