DMR Shatters Program Record as Two Hokies Crack All-Time Top 10 Lists

BOSTON – The men’s Distance Medley Relay (DMR) team set program and collegiate records with a runner-up finish at the Saucony Battle for Boston on Sunday night, while two Hokies posted all-time top-10 marks in their respective events.

The DMR proved to be a force, finishing second behind Oregon (9:14.88) with a time of 9:15.05. The mark shattered the previous program record of 9:19.88, set in 2025 by Nick Plant, Sam Herenton, Christian Jackson and George Couttie. The time also ranks No. 3 all-time in NCAA history. The Hokies currently sit third on the 2026 NCAA qualifying list and first in the ACC this season.

Also competing was Nick Plant, who ran the second-fastest mile in program history, clocking 3:54.75 to earn a top-10 finish.

Sam Idiens ran in the 800 meters, posting a time of 1:48.08 to rank No. 7 all-time at Virginia Tech.
