Second ever All-American relay swam during day two

MINNEAPOLIS – The Hokies had quite the successful night during their first full day of the 2023 Men's NCAA Championships with four honors and two new school records. 

Earning the Hokies their first All-American first-team honor, Youssef Ramadan clocked in at 18.82 during the 50 free finals, placing fifth overall. Later in the evening, Ramadan, Carles Coll Marti, Luis Dominguez and William Hayon received the Hokies second-ever All-American honor in the 200 free relay with a time of 1:15.67. This relay became a new school record for the men and Ramadan's 50 free lead off 18.68 broke yet another record. 

Earlier in the day, Noah Zawadzki qualified for the consolation final in the men's 1-meter diving event, earning the Hokies their first All-American honorable mention of the day. He finished 11th with 373.5 points. Coll Marti also qualified for the consolation final in the 200 IM, finishing 15th at 1:42.56.

TOMORROW

Keith Myburgh and Nico Garcia Saiz will begin the day for the Hokies in the 400 IM. The second event of the day will be busy for the Hokies with Youssef Ramadan, Mario Molla Yanes and Landon Gentry swimming the 100 fly. Luis Dominguez will take on the 200 free in the third event of the day. Next up, AJ Pouch and Carles Coll Marti will compete in the 100 breast. On the boards, Jacob Fisher and Noah Zawadzki will compete in the 3-meter diving event. Finishing off the day will be the 400 medley relay.
