BLACKSBURG – Freshman Kenna Stimmel continues to raise the bar in the women's pole vault finishing first among collegiate-athletes on Saturday at the Doc Hale Virginia Tech Meet.
Stimmel had a near perfect day clearing the first bar set at 12'11.5" (3.95m) on her first attempt. She went on to be the only collegiate-athlete to clear the bar at each of the next three height marks (4.10m, 4.25m, 4.35m), doing so on her first attempt at each height. Stimmel hit her first obstacle of the day attempting to clear a personal-best height of 14'7.25" (4.45m). After clearing on her second attempt, Stimmel raised the bar to 14' 11" (4.55m). After three attempts, Stimmel ended the day ranked tied for second in D1.
In the men's pole vault, Harrison Rice and Jacob Rice finished first and second among collegiate-athletes clearing a personal-best height of 17' 4.5" (5.30m). Based on total misses, Harrison claimed second over Jacob as he took only one attempt to clear the bar at 16'6.75" (5.05m), Jacob cleared it in two.
Throws
Essence Henderson had the win in the bag after round one in the women's shot put scoring a distance of 51'8.5" (15.76m). Looking to improve upon her mark, Henderson scored 53' 10.25" (16.41m) in round four, her best mark of the day.
Jumps
Sophomore Aidan Clark claimed the fourth win of the day for Tech clearing the bar at 6'11 (2.11m) in the men's high jump.
JDL Camel City
In Winston-Salem, Lindsey Butler finished second in the women's 800m elite clocking in a season-best time of 2:04.55. Senior Arlo Ludewick placed fourth in the men's 800m elite with a personal-best time of 1:51.11, following closely behind was Nick Plant in fifth (1:51.96).
Sophomore Ava Hassebrock crossed the line sixth in the women's elite mile recording a personal-best time of 4:39.03.

Members of the distance squad will head to Chestnut Hill, Mass. to compete at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational.
