Butler sets Virginia Tech record on opening day in Boston

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. –  Junior Lindsey Butler set the Virginia Tech indoor school record in the women's mile on Friday, Feb. 10, competing at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational. Butler clocked a personal-best time of 4:31.41 to secure the fifth-fastest time in the NCAA this season.  Day One Results - Women, Men

Sophomore Ava Hassebrock moved up into the ACC top-15 clocking a personal-best time of 9:12.72 in the 3000m. Hassebrock finished first in her heat and 30th overall in a field of over 300 athletes. Star Price crossed the finish line ninth in the 1000m with a time of 2:48.47. 

Sprints / Jumps

Sophomore Layla Anderson attained the number one spot in the ACC 60m hurdles after running a time of 8.13 in the finals at the Tiger Paw Invite, finishing fourth. Previously ranked 40th (8.26), Anderson moves into the NCAA top 16 with two weeks left in the qualifying period for the NCAA Indoor Championships. 

Freshman Judson Lincoln IV maintained his number one spot in the ACC clocking a personal-best time of 45.97 in the 400-meters, finishing sixth overall. Lincoln IV's sub-46 time is the fastest in the country among freshmen this season. Teammate Kennedy Harrison finished 10th overall with a season-best time of 46.29. In the men's 60-meters semi-finals, Cole Beck attained the fourth-fastest time in the conference (6.62). 

At the sand pit, Cierra Pyles jumped her way into the ACC top 10 recording a personal-best mark of 19'7.5" (5.98m) in the women's long jump.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. –  
Freshman Barbora Stejfova finished sixth in the women's weight throw with a distance of 63'3.25" (19.81m) at the Music City Challenge. In the women's weight throw invite, Rebecca Mammel placed seventh throwing 72'8.5" (22.16m), Sara Killinen placed eighth (72'3.75" (22.04m)). Day One Results
