HEADLINES FROM LAST WEEK
On Thursday, women's soccer fell to No. 5 Florida State 4-1. A goal from senior Emmalee Carter in the 83rd-minute prevented the shutout and was her second goal of the season. The Hokies finish out the regular season with a record of 10-6-2 overall and 4-5-1 in ACC play.
On Friday, cross country traveled to Charlottesville, Virginia to compete in the 2022 ACC Cross Country Championships. Both men and women finished eighth in the competition, with 251 and 219 points, respectively. Senior Antonio Lopez Segura earned All-ACC honors after finishing with a time of 23:19.0, placing him 11th overall.
Over the weekend, swim and dive fell to Ohio State 187.5-165.5 and 231.5-121.5. Despite the losses, the Hokies still celebrated by clocking in top times in the nation. Both the men's and women's 400 free relays put in times that placed them seventh in the country.
Friday, volleyball welcomed Virginia for the latest edition of the Commonwealth Clash, presented by Smithfield, and the Hokies fell in hard-fought, five-set battle. Anabel Zier racked up 14 kills with a .565 attack percentage on her senior day. Senior Logan Mosley led the team with 14 digs, while senior Cera Powell had a team-high 16 kills.
Men's soccer fell to No. 3 Duke, 1-0, in its regular-season finale at Thompson Field on Friday night. Sophomore Ben Martino's five saves were able to keep Tech within striking distance against the top-three opponent. In the final minutes, the Hokies had two opportunities to tie it up but couldn't connect on either.
Sunday afternoon, volleyball fell to No. 7 Pitt in three sets at home in Cassell Coliseum. Freshman Hanna Borer had a team-high 20 assists, which helped graduate student Maddie Slagle compile a match-high two aces.
