Hokie men dominate in Durham

Meet Results

DURHAM, N.C. – The Hokies brought a strong performance in Durham, the men's team beat the Blue Devils 199 to 127. The women fell just short 127.5 to 200.5 but swam a time in the 400 free relay that placed them eighth nationally.

"Our women's team did awesome especially with so many people out with injuries", head coach Sergio Lopez Miro said. "We're missing some key players like Caroline Bentz, Sarah Shackelford, Morgan Miller and Allison Henry, but overall we did a great job. Our 200 medley relay was really good for this time in the season and our 400 free relay was five seconds faster than this time of the season last year. At the moment the women are eighth in the country with that time. Emma Atkinson, Carmen Weiler Sastre and Fanni Gyurinovics did awesome today, and we're very proud. For the men, we're missing a couple of people too, but we did very well. Their last relay almost broke a pool record by a tenth of a second. We're happy with the performance everyone gave today and we're excited to race Ohio State next week!"
