Hokies to send 15 student-athletes to NCAA Indoor Championships

NCAA ITF Central Men's NCAA Indoor Qualifiers Woen's NCAA Indoor Qualifiers

BLACKSBURG – Seven individuals and the men's and women's distance medley relay teams will represent the Virginia Tech track and field teams at the NCAA Indoor Championships, March 13-14 at the Albuquerque Convention Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
 
On the women's side, Caitlan Tate will run the 400 meters, Sarah Edwards will run in the mile, Sara Freix will run in the 3,000 meters and Rachel Baxter will jump in the pole vault. Edwards comes into her second NCAA Indoor Championship appearance with the seventh-fastest mile time in the country, while Baxter will be making her third appearance with the second-best mark in the pole vault in the nation. Tate is making her first appearance and owns the No. 14 time in the 400. Freix is also making her first individual appearance and owns the No. 15 time in the 3,000.
 
On the men's side, Jacory Patterson will represent the sprints group in the 400 meters, while Diego Zarate will compete in the mile and Peter Seufer will run in the 3,000 and 5,000.  Patterson is heading to his second NCAA indoor appearance and owns the No. 5 time in the country in the 400. Zarate is getting his first taste of NCAA action with the 15th best time in the mile, while Peter Seufer is also making his first NCAA Indoor Championship appearance by holding the No. 8 time in the 3,000 and the No. 7 time in the 5,000.
 
The women's DMR team of Edwards, Alicia Bush, Lindsey Butler and Freix head to Albuquerque with the eleventh-best time in the country with their time of 11:03.08, which they ran on the JDL Fast track at the Camel City Invitational. The DMR team also won silver last weekend at the ACC Indoor Championships with their time of 11:08.41.
 
The men's DMR team of Jack Joyce, Patrick Forrest, Bashir Mosavel-Lo and Seufer head to Albuquerque with the tenth-best time in the country with their time of 9:32.30. The men's time was also completed on the JDL Fast track at the Camel City Invitational. The DMR team also won silver last weekend at the ACC Indoor Championships with their time of 9:48.28.
