Senior Director, Sports Medicine - Women's Basketball, Tennis Oversight

Responsibilities: Erin coordinates all sports medicine needs for the Virginia Tech women’s basketball program and also oversees the men’s and women’s tennis programs.

At Virginia Tech: Along with sports medicine responsibilities, Erin is also in charge of the Virginia Tech Sports Medicine Student Aide program, Graduate Assistant recruitment and is the VCOM/Carilion Clinic Certified Athletic Training Residency Program Director. During her tenure with the Hokies, Cash has been part of the 2023 ACC Championship team, three WNIT teams and three NCAA Tournament teams including the 2023 Hokies Seattle Regional Championship and their Final Four appearance in Dallas.

Prior to Virginia Tech: Erin is not new to Blacksburg as she was a Graduate Assistant at Virginia Tech from 2006-2009. During that time, she primarily worked with the men’s and women’s swimming and diving, football and women’s lacrosse teams. After graduating, Erin was an assistant athletic trainer at Florida State from 2009-2011. She then moved to James Madison University where she was the Women’s Basketball athletic trainer for 5 years (2011-2016.) During that time, the women’s basketball program posted a 139-35 record, won 3 CAA Championships and participated in postseason all 5 years. She also supervised the Cheerleading Graduate Assistant, was a Preceptor for the Athletic Training Program, the Advisor for the Madison Athletic Training Student Association and Gatorade Manager for the summer camp program..

Of Note: Erin has been a certified member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association since 2006. She is a licensed athletic trainer by the Virginia Board of Health Professions, a member of the Mid-Atlantic Athletic Trainers' Association, the Virginia Athletic Trainers' Association and the College Athletic Trainers’ Society. Erin was elected as the VATA Western Region Rep in 2017 and served in that role through 2021. From 2020-2022 she was a VATA Young Professionals Committee Member. In 2022 she was elected as the District 3 MAATA Secretary and continues in that role today. Erin was the recipient of UCF’s Outstanding Student Award in Athletic Training in 2006 and the 2009 William E. McCubbin Award winner at Virginia Tech. 

Personal: Erin is a native of the Florida Keys and now resides in Blacksburg with her husband Bryant and children Carter, Charlotte and Brinlee.
