Director of Football Sports Nutrition
Responsibilities: Austin directs all football performance nutrition services, overseeing fueling, hydration, recovery, and body composition strategies. He collaborates closely with coaching staff, sports medicine, strength and conditioning, and operations to optimize player health and performance year-round.

Joined VT Athletics Staff: 2026

Prior to Virginia Tech: Austin served as the Director and Assistant Director of Performance Nutrition at the University of Delaware, where he led departmental initiatives including budget management, staff supervision, and policy development related to athlete health and risk management. He oversaw the comprehensive nutrition program for football, including team fueling strategies, travel fueling operations, hydration protocols, and body composition monitoring. Counseling over 1,500 student-athletes while managing nutrition services across multiple Olympic sports. He has extensive experience in athlete education, supplement safety, injury nutrition protocols, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Austin has also played a key role in football recruiting, menu development, and implementation of performance nutrition programming across the department.

He began his career at Delaware as an undergraduate volunteer for the Performance Nutrition Department which fueled his passion for sprots nutrition and later took on a student manager role. 

Professional Involvement: Austin serves on the American Sports and Performance Dietitians Association Research Committee and is actively involved in advancing evidence-based practices in sports nutrition.

Education: University of Delaware — B.S. in Nutrition and Dietetics (2018); Dietetic Internship (2020)

Family: Austin is currently engaged to his Fiancé Jackie.
