Drew Tranum joined the football staff as Assistant Director of Football Equipment Services in July 2024.
Prior to his time in Blacksburg, Tranum served as the Director of Football Equipment at Mercer University for three years. During his time with the Bears, Mercer saw an unprecedented level of success culminating in a 2023 NCAA Division I FCS Playoff appearance.
Tranum previously spent time at the University of West Florida, where he worked for three seasons. In 2019, as Head Equipment Manager, Tranum and the West Florida Argos won the NCAA Division II Football National Championship, in their fourth season in existence.
Tranum is a 2018 graduate of North Greenville University with a bachelor’s in history. He worked as student assistant at NGU working with the inside linebackers. In 2016, Tranum was part of a North Greenville staff that directed the Crusaders to an outstanding campaign. NGU finished with a sparkling 9-5 record overall – including a 5-1 mark at home. That lone loss came in a competitive game against eventual SoCon champion and NCAA Division I FCS playoff participant The Citadel in early October.
Tranum is a native of Lexington, South Carolina where he attended Lexington High School.
