Tom Booth originally joined Tech Athletics as an editor for HokieVision in September 2000 after a stint as a news and sports videographer, reporter and anchor at WSLS-TV in Roanoke. He then began working in coaching video for the Hokies in 2003, while also directing Tech’s videoboard production in Lane Stadium on football gamedays from 2005-13.

Booth returned exclusively to overseeing football coaching video for the 2014-15 seasons, a role he resumes in 2021 after working with Josh Bost in football video the past five years. Along with a team of eight undergraduate assistants, Booth and his crew record every Tech game and practice from multiple angles. Thanks to a 50-computer network, along with the latest technology and software, Booth and the football video team provide a full array of assets to Tech’s coaching and player personnel staffs. He was named ACC Video Coordinator of the year by his peers for the 2015 season.

The Erwin, Tennessee native grew up in a Virginia Tech household and has been an avid fan of Tech Athletics since his childhood, attending his first Hokies football game when he was six years old.

A 1996 Tech graduate with a degree in communication, Tom and his wife, Derley, reside in Christiansburg.
