Bird High School … 2016 5A all-state first-team player and 5A state defensive player of the year … 117 solo tackles, with 49 assists, 31 tackles for loss, 25 sacks, three interceptions, five blocked kicks, three defensive touchdowns, five forced fumbles and four fumble recoveries as a senior … Had 141 total tackles, 93 solo, with 19 tackles for a loss and 14.5 sacks, earning defensive player of the year honors in Region 5A South as a junior … Registered 100-plus tackles in all four seasons of high school … Two-time All-Metro pick … Richmond Times-Dispatch Defensive Player of the Year as a senior.
