One of several young players trying to earn a spot in the rotation for playing time at tailback ... Had the fastest 40 time of the group (4.31) during spring testing, and that makes him a threat ... Has added some weight and is working to become stronger ... Finished high school early and entered Tech in January 2006 ... Was moved around before settling at tailback ... Also got looks in the secondary and at receiver ... Coaches are hoping to find a way to best utilize his speed.
2006: Redshirted in the fall while working at tailback ... Improved in all four major lifts during off-season strength and conditioning workouts ... Posted 18 yards on two carries during the Hokies' first scrimmage of the spring.
2005: Enrolled at Tech after completing his senior season ... Went through the off-season program ... Turned in the second-best time in the 40 among the running backs during spring max testing with a 4.4 ... Got a look at several positions during the spring ... Played tailback in the Maroon-White game ... Rushed for 17 yards on two carries and caught a pass for a 9-yard gain ... His 17-yard run was the longest run of the game ... Also had a 16-yard kickoff return.
High School: Tallied 55 tackles and four interceptions his senior season at E.E. Smith High School for Coach Milton Butts ... Named defensive player of the year by the coaches ... Team had a 40-7 record during his time ... Averaged 8.9 rushing yards per game on offense, going for 12 touchdowns as a senior ... Named second-team all-Two Rivers Conference as a running back ... Caught five passes for 205 yards, scoring three touchdowns in 2005 ... On special teams, blocked a punt and scored three touchdowns as a return specialist as a senior ... Team captain in 2005 ... Also played basketball and ran track ... Won first place in the 100 meters with a time of 10.82 in the Cumberland County Championship meet.
