Prior to Virginia Tech: Prior to serving at Virginia Tech in the 2024 and 2025 seasons as assistant cornerbacks coach/quality control, DeVault-Smith was a defensive graduate assistant at Tennessee-Martin in 2023, working with defensive backs.
Education: Vanderbilt, 2021 (B.S. in Sociology)
Personal: A native of Nashville, Tennessee, DeVault-Smith’s playing career featured stops at Vanderbilt and Samford. During the 2022 season, he wrapped up his career by appearing in all 12 games for Samford, tallying 40 total tackles. At Vanderbilt, in four seasons with the Commodores, he played in 32 games, recording 57 career tackles while tallying 5.0 tackles for loss and three sacks.
