Football Rehab and Return to Play
Within Virginia Tech Sports Medicine,  Alex will also operate as the Football Athletic Trainer of Rehab and Return to Sport to provides strategic leadership for the rehabilitation continuum, ensuring injured football student-athletes progress safely and efficiently. This role integrates evidence-based rehabilitation, performance testing, and collaboration to develop individualized return-to-sport plans that reduce reinjury risk and restore peak performance. By combining clinical expertise with performance analytics and athlete-centered care, Alex will continue to collaborate with the team to be aligned with the highest standards of sports medicine.

Responsibilities: Alex works with the Virginia Tech Football team as an assistant athletic trainer as well as being the head athletic trainer for the Virginia Tech Men and Women’s Golf teams. Alex is also the coordinator of the drug-testing program at Virginia Tech.

Prior to Virginia Tech: Alex worked as a graduate assistant at Virginia Tech, working with the football team from 2016-2018 while working on his master’s degree. 

Education: University of Cincinnati, 2016, (BA in Athletic Training); Virginia Tech, 2018 (Masters of Arts in Education).

Of Note: Alex is board certified to practice athletic training in Virginia. 

Personal: Born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio. Alex lives in Blacksburg with his wife Lauren and their daughter Skylar.
