High School: Was named an All-State selection three times as a kicker and a punter under Head Coach Brandon Johnson ... as a senior, had 32 touchbacks, six made field goals ranging from 29 yards to 40 yards, was 31 of 32 on extra points, and successfully orchestrated four onside kicks ... during his junior campaign, Byrd made 16 field goals with a long of 51 yards, went 29-for-29 on extra points, and had 40 touchbacks on 52 attempts.
