Jimmy Blount begins his first season with the Virginia Tech baseball team as a student manager after becoming a member of the staff in August, 2023. His duties as a student manager include setting up equipment for practice, assisting in team laundry duties, shagging balls during both pregame and batting practice, as well as many other responsibilities.
Originally from nearby Salem, Virginia, Blount attended Glenvar High School where he was a four-year varsity baseball letter winner and earned two all-state nods. He was the president of Key Club, as well as a coach for Canes Baseball travel organization. He plans to graduate from Virginia Tech in May, 2027 with a degree in sports media and analytics. After graduation, he wants to pursue a career in sports journalism covering Virginia Tech athletics or coach baseball. Blount’s favorite teams include the Washington Nationals and other DC teams. He is the son of Doug and Missy Blount and has a sister, Grace Blount.
