Senior Director, Sports Nutrition

Job responsibilities: Onyon serves as the Senior Director of Sports Nutrition and oversees all nutrition and performance matters of Virginia Tech varsity student-athletes.  Responsibilities include managing the brand-new Student Athlete Performance Center, a state-of-the-art dining facility for our student-athletes, as well as nutrition education, individual counseling, menu development, body composition analysis and teaching student-athletes nutrition for life after sport.  Onyon has primary sport oversight of Men’s Basketball and Baseball nutrition.

At Virginia Tech: Promoted to Senior Director in Summer 2021.
 
Prior to Virginia Tech: Has worked with Texas A&M Performance Nutrition, University at Buffalo Sports Nutrition and Cornell University Sports Nutrition. 
 
Education: Undergraduate School: Cornell University ’14 (B.S. in Nutritional Sciences, Concentration in Dietetics)
Graduate School: University at Buffalo ’15 (Dietetic Internship and M.S. in Nutrition)
 
Of Note: Cornell Varsity Softball 2010-2014
3 year starting pitcher 
National Fastpitch Coaches Association D-1 All-America Scholar Athlete
Two-time All Ivy League Softball Team 
Ivy League Pitcher of the Week 
Onyon holds the Cornell record for most innings pitched in a single game, which was a 15 inning shut-out against Princeton.

Board Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics 
 
A member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, Sports Cardiovascular and Wellness Nutrition, and the Collegiate and Professional Sports Dietitians Association. 
 
Personal: Grew up in Saratoga Springs, NY.  Loves being active, watching the Yankees, going to Saratoga Race Course, traveling and trying new recipes.
