Jonah Seagears Season 2022

2021:  Made 27 appearances, starting 14 games in the outfield … Drew 16 walks while crafting a .407 on-base percentage ... Doubled and scored a run against Florida State (March 12) ... Stole two bases, scored a run and picked up an RBI at Miami (Feb. 26).

2020: Started one of the eight games played for the Hokies – making the start in left field … For the year, had a .111 batting average with one hit and two runs scored … Drew one walk and was hit by one pitch for a .273 on-base percentage … Went 0-for-3 in five pinch-hit opportunities (walked and was HBP in other two plate appearances).

2019: Made 13 starts for the Hokies – all in center field – and played in 32 games total … During the season, had two multi-hit games, one multi-RBI game and one multi-run scoring game … Had a season-best two-game hitting streak, and a reached base streak of four straight … For the year, had a .235 batting average with 12 hits, including three doubles for 15 total bases and a .294 slugging percentage … Scored five runs and added four RBI … Was walked seven times and was hit by three pitches for a .361 on-base percentage … Was hitless in four pinch-hit opportunities … Did not commit an error in 38 chances.

High School: Earned varsity letters for three years at Battlefield under Coach Jay Burkhart … Helped the team to a 2016 state championship runner-up finish and the 2018 regional title … Batted .348 and had a .561 slugging percentage as a senior … Also, earned varsity letters for three years playing football under Coach Mark Cox … Named an All-region performer as a wide receiver, defensive back and punt returner.
