A very talented freshman right-handed pitcher ... Has really good command and is very competitive ... Has the stuff to pitch on the weekends, either in a starting role or a closing role ... His role is yet to be determined, but he definitely has the quality stuff to win in the ACC ... Started two games in the Hokie Fall World Series, and won the deciding game seven by throwing five innings of four-hit ball.
High School: Excelled for four seasons as a pitcher/shortstop for Coach T.J. O'Donnell at Raritan High School ... As a senior, batted .468, while going 4-1 on the mound to earn first-team all-division, all-group and All-Shore Conference recognition ... Was also named to the all-state third team and all-star team ... A winner of the Monmouth County Sportsmanship Award, was also the team MVP and was selected to the Carpenter Cup team ... As a junior, went 7-1 with a 2.08 earned run average, striking out 97 batters in 64 innings ... Also batted .439 with 39 RBIs, 33 runs scored, five doubles, one triple and three homers, earning all-division and all-county honors for the third consecutive year ... Won the team sportsmanship award in 2005 and the coach's award in 2006, and was a two-time team captain ... Also named All-Shore Conference in 2006 ... Played basketball as well.
