Was used mostly in relief last year as pitcher, but when called on to start, turned in the Hokies' only complete game of the season ... Was Tech's most effective pinch-hitter with a .444 average ... Throws right-handed and bats left-handed ... Has good movement and velocity on his fastball ... Makes contact and uses the whole field at the plate ... Even worked some as an infielder during 2002 fall practice after transferring to Tech ... An outstanding student and true team player ... 2002-03: Filled in where ever the Hokies needed him ... Pitched in 11 games, including two as a starter ... Saw spot duty in the outfield, including six games as a starter in right field ... Was Tech's most successful pinch-hitter with four hits in nine at bats (.444) ... Was 2-1 on the mound and posted the Hokies' only complete game of the season, a nine-inning shutout against Radford ... Allowed just six hits in that game ... Also won a start against Campbell, striking out six batters in six innings of work ... Suffered his lone loss in relief against East Tennessee State despite striking out five men and yielding just one run and two hits in four innings ... Carried an overall batting average of .250 ... Drove in the winning run in an 8-7 decision over Boston College with a pinch-hit single in the bottom of the 12th inning ... Collected two hits and scored two runs in three trips to the plate during a loss to Notre Dame ...
