Earned district, region and state player of the year honors after a senior season in which he batted .450 with three homers, 16 RBIs and 28 stolen bases on offense ... Was also 8-2 with a 1.41 ERA and 95 strikeouts in 59.2 innings pitched on the mound ... As a junior, batted .493 with four homers, five doubles, 28 RBIs and 32 steals, while going 8-1 with 81 strikeouts and an ERA of 0.90 as a pitcher ... Was named first team all-district, all-region and all-state as an outfielder in each of his three seasons, and as a pitcher following his senior year ...
