HOKIES HEADED TO HAYWARD
Katie Bohlke | 5,000 Meters
Bohlke has emerged as one of the nation's top distance runners in 2026. Bohlke set the Virginia Tech record in the 5,000 meters with a winning time of 15:31.85 at the Virginia Challenge in her first collegiate attempt at the distance. She later captured the ACC title with a decisive final-lap kick and qualified for nationals after running 15:31.94 at the NCAA East First Round.
Kaitlyn Cook | Triple Jump
Cook opened her season with a personal-best mark of 13.31 meters at the Virginia Grand Prix, a performance that ranks fourth in program history and earned her the event title. She continued her strong season securing a trip to TrackTown USA for the first time in her career, further establishing her first year as a Hokie.
George Couttie | 1500 Meters
A silver medal in the mile at the NCAA Indoor Championships was only the beginning for George Couttie in 2026. The junior moved to No. 2 in Virginia Tech history in the 1,500 meters with a 3:37.01 performance at the Hill City Twilight and climbed to No. 3 all-time in the 5,000 meters after running 13:33.81 at the Virginia Challenge. Couttie earned All-ACC honors in the 5K with a personal-best 13:33.55 and secured his NCAA Championships berth with a third-place finish in the regional quarterfinals.
Maddox Hamm | Pole Vault
Hamm opened his outdoor season by matching his personal best of 5.55 meters at the Texas Relays. He followed with a runner-up finish at the ACC Championships, clearing 5.33 meters to earn First Team All-ACC honors. Hamm advanced to Eugene in commanding fashion, finishing first in the NCAA East First Round competition (5.45 meters) while clearing every attempt.
Christian Jackson | 800 Meters
The Virginia Tech record holder in the 800 meters claimed the ACC indoor title and earned First Team All-ACC honors outdoors. Jackson now looks to add a national accolade to his growing resume after posting a season-best 1:45.86 at last year’s NCAA nationals prelims in Eugene, where he also earned First Team All-America honors in the final.
Jule Lindner | Steeplechase
Lindner rewrote the Virginia Tech record book in her freshman season. Her 9:46.08 performance in the steeplechase at the Virginia Challenge shattered the previous school record by six seconds. She earned First Team All-ACC honors with a third-place finish at the ACC Championships and advanced to Eugene with a fifth-place finish at regionals.
Conner McClure | Pole Vault
Virginia Tech record holder Conner McClure returns to the national stage after clearing a season-best 5.62 meters at the Jim Freeman/Clark Wood Invitational, the sixth-best mark in the East Region this season. McClure earned First Team All-ACC honors with a third-place finish at the conference championships before advancing to Eugene with a clearance of 5.45 meters at regionals.
Mariana Pestana | Hammer Throw
One of Virginia Tech's most consistent performers all season, Pestana recorded a podium finish at every meet and never threw below 65 meters. Her personal-best 66.98-meter throw at the ACC Championships moved her to No. 3 all-time in program history and earned First Team All-ACC honors with a runner-up finish. She qualified for nationals with a 65.98-meter throw at regionals.
Nick Plant | 1500 Meters
Virginia Tech's all-time leader in the 1,500 meters delivered another standout season in 2026. Plant posted a season-best 3:37.12 at the Hill City Twilight before capturing the ACC title in dramatic fashion, closing with a 52.17-second final lap to overtake the field. He later helped Virginia Tech's 4x400-meter relay secure gold at the ACC Championships alongside Nabil Tezkratt, Elijah Mosley and Judson Lincoln IV. Plant punched his ticket to Eugene with a runner-up finish in the NCAA East First Round quarterfinals.
Chiara Sistermann | Pole Vault
Following her All-America indoor season, Sistermann continued her strong form outdoors. She moved into a tie for sixth on Virginia Tech's all-time pole vault list after clearing 4.42 meters at the Jim Freeman/Clark Wood Invitational. Sistermann earned First Team All-ACC honors for the third consecutive year and advanced to Eugene with a runner-up finish at the NCAA East First Round.
