EUGENE, Ore. — The Virginia Tech men's track and field team concluded competition on Friday as Christian Jackson recorded an All-America finish in the 800 meters at Hayward Field.
Jackson placed eighth in a season-best 1:45.63 to earn First Team All-America honors and secure his second consecutive outdoor All-America finish in the event. The honor marks the fifth All-America accolade of his career.
Jackson's 2026 campaign was highlighted by helping Virginia Tech's distance medley relay set a program record during the indoor season with a time of 9:19.88, the third-fastest performance in NCAA history. He also captured the ACC indoor title in the 800 meters and earned a silver medal at the ACC Outdoor Championships, securing First Team All-ACC recognition.
Jackson's impact extended beyond the track this year as he was named an ACC Top Six for Service recipient. The Top Six for Service Award is presented annually on each ACC campus to student-athletes who have demonstrated outstanding commitment to community service and engagement.
Jackson serves as the Community Engagement coordinator for Run Your City Blacksburg, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing local youth with free opportunities to participate in organized running clubs. The program is hosted by Virginia Tech track and field student-athletes and aims to make the sport more accessible to young runners.
During the indoor season, Jackson hosted a youth race at the Doc Hale Invitational in Blacksburg, giving children an opportunity to experience competition in a collegiate track environment. Reflecting on the experience, Jackson said:
"A small trophy as a kid sparked a lifelong love for competition and growth. I'm grateful to help the next generation race, learn and have fun competing alongside Maurten and Nike."
With another First Team All-America honor in his career, Jackson punctuates a remarkable 2026 campaign that featured conference championship success, record-setting performances and success on the national stage. Equally impactful off the track, his commitment to community engagement has helped inspire the next generation of runners, further cementing his legacy as a leader within Virginia Tech athletics.
