BLACKSBURG – No. 16 Virginia Tech Softball will take to their home field for the final time in the 2026 season against North Carolina, with the three-game set kicking off on Friday, April 24 at 6 p.m. ET. The matchup, which marks the first time the two squads have met in regular-season competition since 2023, pits a Tar Heels (31-14, 9-12 ACC) team that has lost three straight games against a Hokies (38-8, 12-6 ACC) squad that has hit 35 or more wins in six straight seasons.
With Senior Day for the Virginia Tech Softball team punctuating an exciting series in Blacksburg, there are plenty of reasons to cheer on the Hokies. Read below to find out what’s to come throughout a can’t-miss weekend at Tech Softball Park.
- Final ACC Home Series – The upcoming weekend’s three-game series against North Carolina will serve as Tech’s final home conference set of the year. In ACC competition throughout the 2026 campaign, the Hokies have won four of six, securing series victories against NC State, Boston College, Clemson and Virginia. Moreover, the Hokies are 12-6 against conference competition on the season. Show up to cheer on the Hokies as they face their final home ACC matchup this weekend!
- Senior Day at Tech Softball Park – A quartet of Virginia Tech Softball athletes will be recognized for their contributions when Senior Day takes place on Saturday, April 25. Kylie Aldridge, Cassie Grizzard, Sophie Kleiman and Bre Warren will all be honored alongside graduating team managers in a celebration of talent and dedication to the Hokies. While the first pitch for Saturday’s game is slated for 3 p.m., Senior Day recognition will be featured at the end of the contest.

- Additional Celebrations – Senior Day at Tech Softball Park won’t be the only event fans can look forward to over the upcoming weekend. Exclusive opportunities – from meet-and-greets to giveaways – will take place over each of the three games against North Carolina, giving Hokie fans a chance to enjoy the contests in unique and engaging ways.
Salute to Service Night: Friday, April 24
Virginia Tech Softball will begin their series against the Tar Heels with a game recognizing current, former and aspiring service members in the community. In support of local veterans at the Davis & McDaniel Veterans Care Center of Roanoke, fans are encouraged to bring donations to Tech Softball Park, with an emphasis being placed on personal hygiene items, clothing and individually packaged snacks. Additionally, cheer on the Hokies alongside the Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets, where official canine ambassador Growley III will be available for a visit. Don’t forget to grab your bingo card on the way in – there's a lot going on this Friday evening!
Family Fun Day: Sunday, April 26
The series finale on Sunday, April 26 at noon will feature concourse activities, contests and activities for the entire family. Make sure to bring your future Hokies to the concourse for a free face painting opportunity before the first pitch!
4. Concessions and Deals – With so much excitement taking place this weekend, it will be easy to work up an appetite – and Tech Softball Park has fans covered. 5. Players to Watch – A plethora of elite-level talent will take the field against the Tar Heels this weekend, showcasing both offensive dominance and defensive presence for the Tech softball team. Jordan Lynch, who has started and appeared in every game for the Hokies in 2026, currently hits a team-high .431 batting average while leading in hits (69), doubles (16), and home runs (15). Addison Foster, who has also started and appeared alongside Lynch in every game this season, has also excelled at the plate to the tune of a .428 batting average and 38 RBIs. On the mound, Bree Carrico – who tabbed ACC Freshman of the Week and D1 Softball National Freshman of the Week wins this past March - has been dealing. Her impressive 12-1 record is a testament to her elite pitching ability, further exemplified by a 1.44 ERA in 26 appearances (87.2 IP).
