Track and Field lands 16 on USTFCCCA All-Academic Team

The Virginia Tech men's and women's track and field programs placed 16 student-athletes on the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic teams for the 2023-24 indoor and outdoor track and field seasons.

NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Virginia Tech men's and women's track and field programs placed 16 student-athletes on the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic teams for the 2023-24 indoor and outdoor track and field seasons.

A minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.25 on a 4.0 scale is required to qualify for the All-Academic team, including the most recent grading period. 

Athletically, student-athletes must have finished the indoor season ranked in the top 96 in any championship individual event, or in the top 48 in any championship relay event. Athletes can also qualify during the outdoor season by participating in any round of the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships. For the multi-events, athletes must have finished the season ranked in the top 48 in the East or West regionals.  

The team must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher for all student-athletes, including the most recent grading period, to be named to the All-Academic Team. The Hokies men's and women's teams both received recognition for their achievements in the classroom. 

Hannah Ballowe was recently a recipient of the NCAA postgraduate scholarship. The NCAA awards scholarships to 21 men and 21 women during each of the fall, winter, and spring seasons.  The scholarships, worth $10,000 each, are awarded to student-athletes who intend to pursue advanced degrees in graduate or professional school.  The student-athletes are evaluated on academics, athletics and community service.

Ballowe will be attend NC State in the fall where she will begin working on a PH.D in communications, rhetoric, and digital media with a focus in technical communications and rhetoric.
