BLACKSBURG – Senior Lindsey Butler recorded her fifth program record at Virginia Tech on April 19 competing at the Wake Forest Invitational in Winston-Salem, N.C.
Butler crossed the finish line third among collegiate athletes in the 1500m invite with a personal-best time of 4:07.96. Her time crushes the previous record of 4:10.03 set by Rachel Pocratsky in 2018.
Butler's 1500m time is tied for 14th on the USTFCCCA all-time performance list, third fastest time during the 2024 outdoor season. She was awarded ACC Women's Track Performer of the Week for the second time
4. 2024 Terrier DMR Challenge – DMR (10:52.51)
Hannah Ballowe, Barbora Malikova, Star Price, and Lindsey Butler shattered the women's distance medley relay record on Feb. 16 clocking in a time of 10:52.21 at the Terrier DMR Challenge. Running anchor, Butler clocked 4:34.37 in the final 1600m of the DMR.
3. 2024 Hokie Invitational –1000m (2:41.00)
Butler started her 2024 campaign on Jan. 19 breaking the 1000m record (2:41.98) set by Pocratsky in 2018. Butler led the Hokies on day one of the Hokie Invitational recording a time of 2:41.00. She holds the seventh fastest time in USTFCCCA history.
2. 2023 David Hemery Valentine Invitational – Mile 4:31.41
Finishing second among 300 athletes, Butler crossed the finish line with a personal-best time of 4:31.41 in the mile at the 2023 David Hemery Valentine Invitational in Boston, Mass. on Feb. 11, 2023.
1. 2022 ACC Indoor Championships – 800m 2:01.23
Looking to defend her 2021 ACC title, Butler claimed gold in the 800m at the 2022 ACC Indoor Track and Field Championships in Blacksburg with a school record time of 2:01.23. She qualified for the finals finishing first in the prelims at 2:04.49.
Ranked first in the NCAA, she would go on to claim the 2022 NCAA 800m Indoor Championships in Birmingham, Ala. with a time of 2:01.37.
Butler also holds the current record for most records held by a track and field athlete at Virginia Tech.
