COLUMBUS, OH – The Hokies wrap up day one of the Ohio State Invitational, having multiple swims in the schools top 10 times in history.

HIGHLIGHTS

Women

Fifth year Madelyn Moore showed speed in the pool today. During the preliminary round, she made it on the Tech top 10 board in the 50 free with a time of 22.52. During the finals, she improved even more, finishing with a time of 22.45. This time is currently sixth in school history. Getting on the same top 10 board, freshman Carmen Weiler Sastre finished the 50 free in the preliminary round with a time of 22.52. This time is currently ninth is school history. Weiler Sastre alongside Moore, Emily Claesson and Fanni Gyurinovics also swam one of Tech's fastest times in the women's 200 free relay with a final time of 1:29.33. This time is fourth in school history. 

On the boards, Izzi Mroz placed fourth in the 3-meter prelims with a score of 309.30 and sixth in the finals with a score of 315.25. Freshman Grace Austin qualified for finals in the 3-meter, placing fifth with a final score of 325.65. 


Men

Carles Coll Marti continues to dominate men's 200 IM, placing first in both the prelims and finals. His time for finals was 1:42.35. Coll Marti alongside Youssef Ramadan, Will Koeppen and William Hayon placed third in the 200 free relay with a time of 1:17.59. This relay time made it on the school top 10 list and is currently sixth in Tech history. Coll Marti and Ramadan along with Forest Webb and Luis Dominguez also made it on the top 10 board in the 400 medley relay, placing second in finals with a time of 3:06.12. This time is currently fourth in school history. 

Nico Garcia Saiz finished the 500 free in the preliminary round with a time of 4:21.61, making it on the top 10 board. He later went on to beat that time in finals with a time of 4:20.83. His time is currently ninth in Tech history. 

On the boards, Noah Zawadzki placed eighth in the preliminary round with a score of 340.05 and eighth in the finals with a score of 342.50. 

TOMORROW

Day 2 events will follow the same schedule as Day 1 events. There will be two relays (finals only) in the 200 medley relay and the 800 free relay. The individual events will be the 100 fly, 400 IM, 200 free, 100 breast, and 100 back. The men will dive the 3-meter and the women will dive the 1-meter.
