LAS VEGAS – Virginia Tech football's Lecitus Smith was selected in the sixth round at No. 216 overall by the Arizona Cardinals in the 2022 NFL Draft on Saturday, marking the fourth Hokie off the board.

Smith, who played in a total of 45 games with 38 starts on the offensive line at Tech, is the first Tech player taken by the Cardinals since 2014, when Arizona took quarterback/tight end Logan Thomas in the fourth round. Smith is the second Tech offensive lineman to be selected in the 2022 NFL Draft, joining Luke Tenuta (Buffalo, No. 209).

The Georgia native was an All-ACC selection in 2020 and an All-ACC Honorable Mention selection in 2019. A 2022 Reese's Senior Bowl and NFL Combine invitee, Smith paved the way for Tech's 2020 rushing attack that broke the school for yards per carry (5.58) in a single season.
