Bills select Tenuta in sixth round of NFL Draft

LAS VEGAS – Virginia Tech football's Luke Tenuta was selected in the sixth round at No. 209 overall by the Buffalo Bills in the 2022 NFL Draft on Saturday, marking the third Hokie off the board.

Tenuta, who is one of the tallest prospects in the NFL Draft standing at 6-foot-8, is the first Tech player taken by the Bills since 2018, when Buffalo took linebacker Tremaine Edmunds in the first round. Tenuta marks the second straight NFL Draft a Tech offensive lineman has been selected (Christian Darrisaw, Minnesota, No. 23 overall).


The Crozet, Virginia native has played in a total of 34 games, including 26 starts, and was a two-time All-ACC selection, coming in 2020 (third team) and 2021 (honorable mention). This past winter, he participated in the East-West Shrine Bowl and was an NFL Combine invitee.

The Bills are coming off a 12-7 season last year, winning the AFC East, their wild card game and played in the divisional round. Tenuta joins Florida's Kaiir Elam (cornerback, No. 23 overall), Georgia's James Cook (running back, No. 63), Baylor's Terrel Bernard (linebacker, No. 89), Boise State's Khalil Shakir (wide receiver, No. 148), San Diego State's Matt Araiza (punter, No. 180) and Villanova's Christian Benford (cornerback, No. 185) in Buffalo's draft class.
