Baxter, Bedoui, and women’s DMR team earn ACC weekly honors

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The ACC has announced its final ACC Performers of the Week ahead of the ACC Indoor Championships, with Tech track and field claiming three of the four spots.
 
After a facility record and NCAA No. 2 performance in the women's distance medley relay at the JDL DMR Invitational, the team of Leigha Torino, Star Price, Hannah Ballowe, and Lindsey Butler earn Women's Track Performer of the Week honors. The relay ran 11:00.20 on JDL Fast Track's 200m oval, a new facility record by over four seconds. After the qualifying conversion to a time of 10:53.21, the Hokies rank second in the NCAA and first in the ACC heading into championship season.
 
Rachel Baxter closed out a perfect regular indoor season this weekend, clearing 4.45m (14' 7.25") for the victory. Baxter holds the highest mark in the ACC this year at 4.48m (14' 8.25") and ranks No. 2 in the NCAA as she chases her fourth consecutive indoor ACC title this weekend. The honor marks the second time this season Baxter has been named Women's Field Performer of the Week.
 
Khalil Bedoui delivered a lifetime best mark of 21.89m (71'10") in the men's weight throw at the Virginia Tech Challenge last weekend, winning the competition that included eight of the top throwers in the ACC to earn Men's Field Performer of the Week honors. Bedoui's throw moves him into second among ACC athletes this year and ranks 13th in the NCAA, as well as No. 5 all-time in the Virginia Tech record book.

Tech hosts the ACC Indoor Championships this week, running from Thursday, Feb. 24 to Saturday, Feb. 26. The Hokies are chasing their 18th and 19th all-time ACC titles as the women and men both contend for a team championship this weekend.
