Carles Coll Marti and Youssef Ramadan earn medals on second day of ACC's

ATLANTA – The Hokies had a fierce second day of competition in Atlanta for the ACC Championships. Virginia Tech earned their first two medals of the week, both on the men's side. Carles Coll Marti earned a gold medal in the 200 IM, finishing with a time of 1:40.67. That time was good enough to crush the school record, as well as the meet record.

Youssef Ramadan earned a bronze medal in the 50 free, swimming a time of 18.87. That wasn't his only achievement of the day. Earlier, as the leadoff of the 200 free relay, he broke the school record with a 50 free split of 18.80.

Both the women's and men's 200 free relay for the Hokies broke school records. The women's relay with Landon, Shackelford, Bentz, and Atkinson finished with a large lead and a time of 1:27.96. Anna Landon, the lead off, tied the school record and swam her personal best at 21.96. Following the women, the men's relay with Ramadan, Coll Marti, Hallock, and Dominguez crushed the previous record of 1:16.56 by finishing with a time of 1:16.29.

Antani Ivanov, Luis Dominguez, and Filippo Dal Maso all swam personal bests in the 500 freestyle final, finding themselves a new spot on the Virginia Tech All-Time Top 10 leaderboard. Reka Gyorgy and Chase Travis swam season bests in the same event earning them big points for the Hokies as they finished 4th and 5th in the finals.
