GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Virginia Tech men's swim and dive team finished third in the 2021 Men's ACC Championships on Saturday marking the highest finish the program has seen in six years.
The No.13 Hokies finished with 1085 points behind No. 7 Louisville in first and No. 5 NC State in second. The team had 18 A finalists, set 11 new school records and earned 11 medals over the course of competition.
Freshman Youssef Ramadan swam the fastest time in the NCAA on Friday night earning him a gold medal in the 100 butterfly. Ramadan swam a time of 44.32 which broke the ACC record, meet record, school record and was the fastest time a freshman has swam in the 100 fly in NCAA history.
The team of Ramadan, Blake Manoff, Carles Coll Marti and Antani Ivanov finished strong in the final event of the meet with a new school record in the 400 freestyle relay. The team swam a time of 2:49.87, earning them third place in the event.
Antani Ivanov earned five medals this week, the final two on Saturday night in the 200 fly and 400 freestyle relay. Ivanov swam a time of 1:39.82, breaking the school record and securing him a silver medal in the event.
Blake Manoff broke two individual school records this week and contributed to four new school records in relay events. Manoff also earned a silver medal in the 200 freestyle on Friday night.
