Hokies find two podium appearances and two school records

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Virginia Tech men's swimming and diving team earned a silver and bronze medal along with breaking two school records on the second day of the 2021 Men's ACC Championships.
 
Carles Coll Marti earned his first individual ACC medal in the 200 IM. The freshman swam a top-five program time of 1:43.47 earning him second place overall in the event. Coll Marti was also a member of the 800 free relay team that earned a silver medal on Wednesday night.
 
The Hokies earned their third medal of the competition in the 200 free relay. The team of Youssef Ramadan, Thomas Hallock, David Herbert and Blake Manoff swam a time of 1:16.56, setting a new school record and placing third in the event.
 
Freshman Youssef Ramadan also set a new school record during the 200 free relay. The Cairo native swam a 50 freestyle split of 19.15, beating the previous record of 19.32 set by teammate Hallock in 2020.
 
After day two, the Hokies sit in first place overall with 454 points. Competition will resume tomorrow with prelims starting at 10 a.m. with coverage available through ACCNX.
