VESTAL, N.Y. – Virginia Tech wrestling dominated Binghamton 47-0 Saturday afternoon in New York to improve to 7-0 in duals on the season.
Saturday afternoon was Virginia Tech's first shutout victory since Jan. 12, 2018, when the Hokies defeated Campbell 40-0 at the Virginia Duals.
The No. 3 Hokies improve to 3-0 in road duals this season with the win. The previous two matchups away from Blacksburg were wins over then-No. 3 Ohio State and No. 24 Central Michigan.
MATCH HIGHLIGHTS
- No. 18 Mitch Moore won his second straight dual match by way of fall. Moore pinned Binghamton's Kevin Kelly in 1:13. Moore continues to lead the Hokies with six falls this season.
- Bryce Andonian also won his match by fall for the second straight dual. Andonian pulled his off over Michael Zarif midway through the third period. Andonian has five falls so far this season, just one behind Moore for the team lead.
- No. 19 B.C. LaPrade followed up the back-to-back pins with more bonus points of his own. LaPrade defeated Chris Barker by an 8-0 major decision to give Tech four more points. LaPrade now has four major decision victories this season, just one short of his career-high from last season.
- Fresh off his 100th career win last week, No. 3 David McFadden registered his first pin of the season over Jacob Nolan to give the Hokies four straight bonus-point victories. McFadden, who was in line for a major decision win, picked up the fall with just nine seconds remaining in the match.
- Stanley Smeltzer won his second dual match of the season Saturday afternoon with an 11-3 major decision over Sam DePrez. Smeltzer now leads the team in major decision victories with six this season.

Tech is back in action Sunday afternoon for the second half of their New York road trip when they face off with No. 19 Cornell. The Big Red defeated No. 22 Rutgers 18-16 Friday night and are now 6-4 on the season.
