BLACKSBURG – The Virginia Tech track and field teams will split up for the second-straight week as they travel to Auburn, Alabama for the War Eagle Invitational and Durham, North Carolina for the Duke Invitational.
 
The sprint/hurdles and jumps/multi-events group will head to Auburn's campus, while the throws and distance group will go to Duke's campus.
 
The Tech women moved to No. 19 in this week's outdoor United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) TFRI Ranking Index.

The Hokies are coming off a strong weekend as they tallied five first-place finishes at the Tennessee Relays on the campus of Tennessee in Knoxville. Rachel Baxter took first place in the pole vault, Rachel Pocratsky won the 1,500 meters and Jacory Patterson won the 200-meter dash.
 
The men's distance medley relay of Bashir Mosavel-Lo, Eldon Phillips, Diego Zarate and Peter Seufer shined as they turned the No. 3 time (9:44.83) in program history to place first. The women's 4x800 team also stood out as Sara Freix, Sarah Edwards, Shannon Quinn and Pocratsky ran the program's second-fastest time (8:37.42) to finish first.
 
The Hokies have 11 student-athletes who have times and marks that rank across the nation in the top 50. Pavla Kuklova and Emma Thor rank 14th and 23rd in the hammer throw, while Eszter Bajnok is 14th in the triple jump, Pocratsky is 28th in the 1,500 meters and Rachel Baxter owns the No. 4 mark in the pole vault.
 
On the men's side, Cole Beck is tied for 47th in the 100-meter dash, Tyson Jones has the 37th best throw in the shot, Deakin Volz is tied for 14th in the pole vault, Mosavel-Lo and Seufer are 20th and 34th in the 1,500 meters, while Patterson has the 17th best time in the 200 and owns the fifth-fastest time in the 400-meter dash.
